I decided to undertake this Diploma despite having nearly 7 years’ experience as a Legal Secretary. As a Fellowship Member of The Institute of Legal Secretaries and PAs, I wanted to expand my skills and knowledge and learn more about the different areas of legal practice, enabling me to move to a different, more enjoyable area of law. I would recommend to attend the Evening Classes as well if possible as they were very interesting

I don’t think there is anything I would change about it!

This has been an amazing experience, I have really enjoyed the course and everything I have learnt has been very valuable to me. The way it is broken down and explained is excellent for someone who hasn’t studied law before. I would like to say thank you very much, I don’t think there is anything I would change about it! I have been very impressed by the ILSPA Legal Secretaries Diploma Course. It is organised and well structured. Jonathan Butterworth, the barrister who taught our evening classes, is excellent. It was Jonathan’s expertise that made the course digestible and understandable which was reassuring because I had no prior work experience in Law. The other students are also clever and inspiring people. The course assessor has been consistently helpful in answering my queries. I found the course extremely interesting and really liked the way the material was written

I have no experience in Law and I found the course material clear and concise

The course is exceptionally detailed and very well structured. I have no experience in Law and I found the course material clear and concise. My concern before starting was the content being online. When I logged in, I found that the webpage was very user friendly and each unit easy to access. The course assessor was extremely efficient in marking tests and sending them back. The support staff are very helpful with questions, CV tips etc. My tutor, Jonathan, wasted no time with the class and got stuck in straight away. He involved the whole class in Q&A and role play scenarios, which was daunting at first, but really helped with my confidence to be more vocal. I am very pleased I decided to complete this course. I have learnt valuable Legal knowledge that I will use in the future. I would really recommend this course to anybody interested in pursuing a career in Law.

The course is very useful and I am proud to be an Associate Member of the Institute of Legal Secretaries and PAs. The course has also got me my first job in the legal sector

I found the course very helpful, I liked gaining knowledge in the different sectors and having the help there when I needed it. The responses back from my achievement test submissions were on the same day or the following day at the latest which was great, and all the course material was easy to understand and assessments also easy to understand and produce myself. The course has also got me my first job in the legal sector as a commercial property legal secretary which I am extremely happy about – I would recommend this course to anyone considering becoming a Legal Secretary.

I thought the course was excellent. Our tutor was very knowledgeable and helpful and the evening classes were engaging. The course is already helping me in my search for a new job even before I have completed it. The Institute has been very helpful both in providing quick responses to any questions and in accommodating me when circumstances meant I had to stop studying for a number of months and needed an extension on my portfolio submission date. It was a great experience for me

I just wanted to give some feedback for the Royal Court of Justice visit on the 14th June. It was a great experience for me to meet other fellow students who were either doing an online course or attending the evening classes. Amanda is such a great leader and I learned so much from her. ILSPA’s Legal Secretaries Diploma Course covers a number of legal practices and was extremely rewarding. I found that the teaching process was arranged, structured and presented in a style that allowed me to engage and understand the subject areas of law in which it would be beneficial and essential for me to gain knowledge for a career within the legal profession. Having the course introduction to the law modules set over a 14 week period, instilled me with a commitment to attain as much knowledge as I could. I was able to digest the terms in the legal processes and because of my own personal held interests in law, it reflected that of my own natural ability in recognising the importance of law and the impact and significance that it has on modern society.

The course itself has been informative, detailed and interesting

I have very much enjoyed doing the course, which I have undertaken with a view to a potential career change. It has taken me about five months, which was pretty much my target when I started. As a distance learner I was a bit worried that I might find myself struggling with IT issues at every turn, but that has not been the case at all – it has all worked very smoothly. The course itself has been informative, detailed and interesting, and the support from my course assessor has been first-class. I tried hard not to bombard her with endless email inquiries, but on the handful of occasions I did need to clarify points I was uncertain about I invariably received clear, concise replies extremely quickly. I would certainly recommend the course to others.

I would definitely recommend for anyone who wants to go into this field

I think the course is well structured and explains every area clearly and simply. The modules are set out and everything on the website is easy to use, this makes it less confusing for people studying law for the first time. I personally think the evening classes helped me grasp the initial concepts but as the staff are always on hand to help learning at home was never an issue. I have really enjoyed the course it has made me prepared for working in a Law firm alongside qualified Legal Secretaries, I would definitely recommend for anyone who wants to go into this field.
