ILSPA’s Legal Secretaries Diploma course can be studied via evening classes at the prestigious Regent's University in London. The nearest underground station is Baker Street, which is about a 5 minute walk.
Our evening classes are held one evening a week for 14 weeks from 6.30pm - 9.30pm. ILSPA’s tutors are professionals in the legal field and have excellent experience of teaching law. The course involves face-to-face tuition and additional study at home. There is no use of computers in class and it is necessary for you to have a computer and printer at home to read the course material and complete the coursework. Everything covered in class is provided to you online, which will become a valuable learning aid throughout the course.
As a guideline, ILSPA’s Legal Secretaries Diploma course is usually completed by distance learning Students within 6 months. We recognise, however, that Students learn at different rates, and you may take up to 1 year. Some Students studying by distance learning have been known to complete it within 6 weeks!
A good pace for studying the course would be around 8 hours a week, but this can be flexible according to your commitments. The more time you dedicate to your studies, the quicker you will complete the course.
Our evening classes are held one evening a week for 14 weeks from 6.30pm - 9.30pm. Students are required to complete coursework at home outside of the 14 week class time. Once the classes have finished, Students are able to submit their coursework straight away or they can take longer if they need to. We accept coursework submissions up to a year after enrolment.
Whether you study the course by class attendance or distance learning, the coursework and certificate are the same. There are no examinations for the Legal Secretaries Diploma course. You are assessed by way of multiple-choice achievement tests and practical assessments.
Units 3, 4, 5 & 6 include practical assessments which involve the production of legal forms and documents on your computer at home. Full instructions and examples are provided in the course material to enable you to complete the coursework. Through completing the assessments, you will show how well you are able to follow instructions and apply word processing skills to a variety of documents commonly found in legal practice. You are required to create a portfolio of your assessments which must be sent to our Course Assessor when you have completed the course.
Your portfolio will be marked and sent back to you within 21 days with your results. If you have passed the course, you will be awarded ILSPA’s Legal Secretaries Diploma Certificate. Our pass rate is very high and 98% of Students who complete their coursework achieve the qualification.
Results are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction - depending on the standard of your coursework. If you fail any part of the course, you will have the opportunity to redo it.
You are required to complete an achievement test after each unit to show your understanding of law. There are 20 multiple-choice questions in each test. Students must complete their tests online through our website.
Whatever study method you choose, the course material is the same. After enrolment you will be sent your login details for our website, where you will be able to access the online course material.
You will need a computer and printer to study the Legal Secretaries Diploma course. The course is not designed to be studied on a phone or tablet as our assessments involve the production of legal documents, forms and letters.

Once a month, Students have the opportunity to attend a tour of the Royal Courts of Justice in London, commonly known as the ‘Law Courts’. The building houses the Court of Appeal and the High Court.
If you study the Legal Secretaries Diploma course, you will learn the Court of Appeal has two divisions - the Civil division, which hears appeals from the High Court, and the Criminal division, which hears appeals from the Crown Court. The High Court has three divisions - the Queen’s Bench division, the Chancery division and the Family division - and accommodates the Administrative Court.
Our tour offers a great chance to see how the courts operate and learn some historical facts. Students are able to hear some cases and do some group assignments to further their learning. We receive great feedback from those who have attended the tour.
