Firstly I want to start by saying that the ILSPA legal secretaries diploma course is fantastic, all interactions I had with yourselves were swift precise and very helpful, I thought the course was fantastic, I have always worked in banking and customer service and wanted a change of direction after having my children, I found the course very enjoyable, I liked the way it was set out, I really benefitted from learning remotely from home at my own pace, overall a really great course.
I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the Legal Secretaries Diploma course. As I prepare to relocate to the UK next year, I wanted to equip myself with knowledge and skills that would help me transition smoothly into the UK legal job market. Enrolling in ILSPA’s online Legal Secretaries Diploma course has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The distance learning format suited my schedule perfectly, and I was impressed by how responsive and supportive the ILSPA team has been throughout. The feedback provided on my coursework was prompt and detailed, allowing me to understand and learn from any mistakes. This made the learning process both effective and confidence-building. Thanks to the course, I now have a foundational understanding of the English legal system and the role of legal secretaries in the UK. I believe this qualification will greatly enhance my employability and help me adapt more confidently to a new professional environment. Thank you, ILSPA, for offering such a thoughtful and well-structured programme!
I decided to do this course for two reasons: 1. There didn’t seem to be a course or any way to advance as a secretary. Everybody else in this department were either fully qualified solicitors/Partners, or were doing their LPC/CILEX to become a solicitor. 2. To prove to myself that at aged 60 I could still do it! Unfortunately I became quite ill during the first part of the course, with 2 weeks in hospital then 5 weeks at home. This also kicked off a bout of severe depression and general disinterest in everything. I asked for an extension to complete the course, and this was granted – thank you very much. Still not over the depression I completed the course on the very last day and submitted everything at once with, I must admit, not with the greatest of hopes of passing. I was away racing that weekend and successfully passed my assessment to become a Deputy Secretary for Race Meetings through BARC (British Automobile Racing Club) I received the news that I was no longer a Trainee on the Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon I received all the results from my ILSPA assignments. Double whammy, I had passed that too. Not only passed, but with a Merit! To say I was chuffed would be an understatement, and there were a few minutes of leaking eyes! The course itself was really interesting. We don’t have a Civil Litigation Department at this firm, so it was interesting to see that side of law. The scenarios and questions were thought provoking and kept me interested. We do have a Family and Private Client (Wills, Probate and Admin) departments, so it was really good to see their side of the business. The three more general sections of the course - English Legal System, Key Legal Secretary Skills and General Legal Procedures were good for someone with no background in law at all (I have a degree in Chemistry, and also worked in Logistics). I have been doing this job now for 6 years and now I have this qualification, this is the first time that I feel a bit more on an equal footing with the trainees/junior staff. Many thanks for your help and support throughout this course.
I recently completed the Legal Secretary Diploma at your institution, and I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the quality of the course and the overall learning experience. Although I already hold a law degree, I chose to pursue this diploma to further enhance my legal knowledge and practical skills. The course content was well-structured, informative, and highly relevant. I found the assessments to be fair and manageable, and I was especially impressed by the continuous support and guidance provided by the teaching staff. Overall, I truly enjoyed the course and found it both enriching and rewarding. I am confident that the skills and knowledge I have gained will support me in securing my dream job in the legal field. Thank you once again for offering such a valuable program.
My experience with you was amazing. I liked the fact that lectures were recorded so if you missed the class, you can go back and listen to what was taught. Our lecturer Seamus was very responsive as to any questions that I had, he made the classes fun by giving real life examples which made it more personable. My advice to students is to do the work soon as you get it. As it would be difficult to go through all of it again, and you could loose momentum. The team “Meg” (just to name a few) was very helpful. I want to say thank you so much and the institution has had a massive impact on my future.
The reason for taking this course is that I am looking to change industry. I currently work in the property sector but have a keen interest in the legal side to it hence my decision to complete the following modules: Civil Litigation, Contract and Tort, Land Law and Conveyancing. Learning these modules deepened my knowledge which I hope to further develop when enrolling on the Paralegal Diploma course through NALP. While the multiple choice questions tested my knowledge I really enjoyed the assignments since they helped me understand how to put the law into practice. I found that if I had a query the support team where very quick to respond. I am excited to embark on a career change using the knowledge and skills I have gained from completing this course.
I have to say that I was extremely impressed with ILSPA whilst studying through them. I have been a legal secretary for over 30 years, starting off on a 2-day temping assignment way back when and haven't looked back, although I had no "legal" qualifications. The guys at work were pestering me about taking courses, so I chose ILSPA simply because I am already a member. Any questions I had, however silly - and there were a few - were dealt with promptly and professionally. I am pleased to say I now have two diplomas of which I am very proud and am looking to take another one in the near future - just giving myself a little bit of a breather first. Thank you so much to everyone at ILSPA, I actually found it fun to study too.
I am a Bilingual (English-French) Executive Legal Assistant in an Africa-based Development Finance Institution (DFI). I accepted this job in mid-2022 without any legal background. My work revolves around Board Affairs (planning of quarterly Board meetings, Board member nominations at the end of Board terms, E-Board management of documents and Board remuneration, Treaty interpretation, etc). I took the ILSPA Diploma to be able to get an introduction to Law in general so that I can understand and do my work better. Working in the legal department means that I work with lawyers and there are times that we deal with contracts, civil litigation and other legal aspects. The fact that the course is fully virtual is very good as international students can benefit from the training.
I am employed as a Legal Secretary at a law firm and I enrolled in the course through work to better understand my role and expand my knowledge. I have found each part of the course highly beneficial for my role and I have learnt many new things from my lecturer and my fellow students, and the interaction and online lessons was really helpful. I found Seamus to be really approachable and knowledgeable, he was always happy to listen and discuss queries anyone had. I am grateful for the feedback on my coursework, I found this to be really helpful and was able to use it to pass my course. Overall, I’m very happy with my achievement and the course.
I found the course and website easy to navigate and I was able to understand my tests and assignments quickly in order to maximise my time when learning. If I had any queries regarding my assignments, your team got back to me fast and efficiently. This was beneficial as it did not put a stall in my learning and it also left me feeling confident I could handle the task to a high level. I really enjoyed the topics I chose (Civil law, Criminal law and Family Law). The information was easy to read and all the answers to my assignments and tests were in the text. I took the course as I am currently working at a Family Law firm. I was asked if I would like to train as a Legal Secretary for the firm and I said yes! I chose ILSPA as the online learning meant I could fit my studies around my work pattern. The studies have helped massively with my understanding of Family Law and I am putting my knowledge to good use!
Thank you very much for the opportunity to study with ILSPA. I am delighted that I passed the course with a 94% in just 2 months! I relocated to the UK from Zimbabwe in 2023, and having studied Law many years ago at the University of the Western Cape, I was eager to continue pursuing my passion for Law. The course allowed me to choose subjects I was interested in, such as Family Law, and along the way, I developed a keen interest in Conveyancing. The practical assessments were particularly enjoyable. I enrolled with ILSPA to prepare myself for interviews and work under the new legal system. This course has significantly boosted my confidence to pursue a legal career in the UK. The flexibility to complete the course online was especially beneficial given my family commitments. The most valuable part of the course was the practical engagement. The structure required a high attention to detail and a strong understanding of the content to produce the legal forms and documentation. I am grateful for the practical skills I have gained.
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have studied with ILSPA and for the course that I completed. It has been an enriching experience, and I’m very pleased with what I’ve gained from it. The course was well-structured, the modules were detailed and thorough, providing a solid foundation for legal knowledge, particularly in areas that are essential for my work. The flexibility to study at my own pace was one of the key advantages, allowing me to balance it with my professional responsibilities. As someone who is starting in the legal field (LEGAL DEEDS & SERVICES), I enrolled in the course to broaden my understanding and strengthen my skills, especially in the areas of legal documentation and procedures. The course met my expectations in this regard, offering practical insights and clear guidance on how to approach various legal tasks. I found the content to be highly relevant to my day to day work, and I am confident that the diploma will enhance my professional standing moving forward. I appreciate the support you provided throughout the course, and the resources available were invaluable. Thank you once again for excellent learning experience.
I was very happy with the course you provided and found it very insightful and fulfilling. It allowed me to choose subjects I was interested in for the advanced level. I got a good basis of knowledge for each area of law and thoroughly enjoyed the Family Law assessments which gave me practical knowledge. The criminal law assignments helped me to understand the defence of law better and how better to apply it to a case. I was also very happy with the feedback and that feedback was provided. Thank you very much for the opportunity of doing this course. I intend to use it well in Legal Practice.
Thank you for your support during my studies. I have always been interested in law, but never took the leap to enrol on any courses. I have completed a bachelor's degree in another field abroad, where I studied through distance learning, and this was the perfect option to complement my studies without having to complete an additional degree. The payment options were very affordable which helped me a lot. I liked the different study options as well and thought that I would try enrolling for the distance learning course, because of family commitments at home. I thought this might have limitations if you didn’t attend classes, but there was a help icon when I needed assistance. I liked the way the study materials were structured, where it made the topics clearer to understand and enjoyable. The feedback from assessors was very helpful. I also like the student resources available for additional reading and advice.
I chose to study with ILSPA because I wanted to achieve a recognised qualification as a Legal Secretary and the Diploma Course provided this. I had previously trained as a Legal Secretary in 1997, taking courses with a local business college in Litigation, Conveyancing and audio typing, but knew my skills and knowledge in these areas were now out of date. The ILSPA course provided me with the flexibility to study for a recognised qualification at my own pace and to update my skills and knowledge. I have really enjoyed the courses and found them to be very informative. I am also very grateful for the support and advice given by the ILSPA team throughout. Many thanks again for all of the support from ILSPA during the course.
I found the course affordable and the site was pretty straightforward and had all the resources I needed for my studies. I chose to do this course because I found that it is recognised globally even here in the Cayman Islands and that is how I became familiar with it. I'm doing a bachelor's degree majoring in Accounting at a local university but at the same time, this degree is not equipping me with immediate skills that I can get a job with. After being to countless interviews for entry level roles including those for Legal Secretaries, I was being told that I do not have the experience needed. Long story short, I decided on this course as most recruiters recommended it and most job advert I saw either asked for experience or this qualification. I am happy I chose this course and I am patiently waiting for my certification. I have no doubt that I will eventually get a job in this field. Keep up the good work!
I just wanted to say a big thank you. I really appreciate how you have organised the course work, the assignments, the information and instructions, etc. It has made my study 10 times more interesting and enjoyable. I wish every school was operating like you. Very interesting and enjoyable, I felt supported throughout the whole course. I have very little experience, but this qualification has kick-started my career.
Easy to follow instructions and lots of information to take in. References to cases was really good as I could check these out online and gain a further insight into how things can go very wrong in some cases which can prove to be very expensive when cases are taken to court. I was already working with a Solicitors as a Wills and Probate Secretary, but had no previous experience.
It was a great experience being able to study on my own timeframe and if I needed help with anything about the course ILSPA were there and they were fantastic. I am already working in the legal field as a Post Completion Assistant.
Excellent course and a great team to guide you with any kind of assistance required. The effort put on providing assignment feedback is really appreciable. I highly recommend this course for any legal secretaries wanting to uplift their career. I have already recommended it to two of my friends. I have 8 years of experience as a legal secretary, but was lacking a formal certification in the legal field. Having gained the ILSPA Diploma certificate, I am now more confident to apply to the secretary positions in bigger International law firms.
