Child & Child are looking for a Conveyancing PA/Secretary to join their conveyancing team.  This is a full-time position, and salary is dependent on experience – however, we would like someone who has over 5 years conveyancing experience and can work independently on instructions given by the fee earner (no dictation).  This role is to provide the partner/fee earners to whom they report to, with the support they need to perform the task of providing legal services to clients and help them maximise the amount of time they are able to spend on fee earning tasks.

The main duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and typing up letters, emails, faxes and reports using the case management system.
  • Open files and issue initial letters and forms to clients.
  • Liaise with solicitors, financial advisors and estate agents.
  • Manage electronic filing of post.
  • Prepare letters, deeds and documents through the case management system.
  • Prepare outgoing mail for dispatch by post.
  • Obtain property searches.
  • Obtain priority and bankruptcy searches.
  • Assist with ensuring client billing is undertaken accurately and within accounting deadlines.
  • Drafting completion statements, preparing slips for accounts and handling calls on the day of completion.
  • Prepare and submit SDLT returns and Land Registry applications.
  • Assist with Land Registry requisitions (currently on a weekly rota).
  • Close files and prepare deeds for storage.
  • Manage deeds requests.
  • Providing reception cover from time to time.
  • Such other reasonable duties as and when required by your Head of Department.
