Job description – Legal Secretary

David Conway & Co is a successful niche west end law firm which has a wide range of experience in dealing with a variety of commercial and residential property, supported by a small team. We are seeking a personable and experienced Commercial Property Legal Secretary for our busy and friendly practice. The job will include the following:

  • Audio and copy typing using digital dictation
  • Diary management
  • Opening and preparing archiving forms for file closures
  • Assistance with client billing
  • Creating documents in Word and Excel including correspondence, reports and agreements, contracts, transfer deeds and post-completion applications
  • Record-keeping and filing
  • Ordering Official Copies from the Land Registry
  • Ordering Local Authority, Drainage and Environmental Searches from the firm’s search provider online
  • Submitting various forms to accounts for payments and receipts
  • Companies House searches
  • Answering the phone, opening the post, meet and greet clients, dealing with couriers and  deliveries and any other duties that are from time to time required by the firm

 

Candidate Profile

  • Fast accurate Audio typing
  • Cilex Level 3 Secretaries Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • At least 1 years conveyancing experience
  • Team player with positive ‘can do’ attitude; common sense; flexible. Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience submitting specialists online forms to the land registry

 

Salary: Depending on experience

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm. Some flexibility is expected to assist in particularly busy periods. As a salaried post, no overtime is payable.

Dress code: While David Conway & Co has no official dress code and is a relaxed place to work, smart business wear will be necessary for this role as it is client facing on a daily basis.

General: Previous experience as a conveyancing secretary is preferred, and very good knowledge of the forms and processes used. Discretion with dealing with confidential matters
