About the role

We are currently looking for a Legal Secretary to join our Private Client team to support our fee earners. 

The Private Client team is a key part of the business, the team has been awarded Private Client team of the year, and is top tier in the Legal 500 and Chambers. Many members of our team hold Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners qualifications and are part of Solicitors for the Elderly. We act for a vast number of high net worth clients as well as acting for several private family charitable trusts, an area that is constantly growing. We are experienced in helping clients to manage their domestic and international estate planning needs.

The role is working for our Cambridge team, and could be based in Cambridge or Northampton.

You will provide efficient legal administration support for busy teams therefore you will need experience of working in a similar role in a fast-paced environment. On a day to day basis you will:

  • Managing the file opening process for the team
  • Work on legal documents, proof reading and formatting
  • Draft emails and letters in accordance with instructions
  • Produce invoices and maintain billing spreadsheets and trackers
  • Create reports (billings, WIP)
  • Produce documents using audio typing.
  • Conduct searches (Lawyer search, Insolvency, Compliance regulation)
  • Take telephone calls and field enquiries as appropriate
  • Provide support to the team handling room bookings, diary management and travel requirements.

About You

As a Legal Secretary you will have:

  •  Experience within a legal environment / professional services environment 
  •  Have a solid grasp of Microsoft systems 
  • Strong administration experience 
  • Experience in case management systems (SOS) and document management systems (iManage)
  • Experience of working in a client facing environment. 
  • Broad knowledge of administrative tasks in a legal / professional practice.
  • Sound knowledge of IT skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams, Zoom, etc.
  • Excellent attention to detail in all aspects of your work
  • Strong communication and organisation skills
