Legal Secretary - Property

A Legal Secretary is sought by this law firm to join their property team in Plymouth.  

The Role

You will provide effective administrative and secretarial support to the fee earners in the property team to enable them to operate efficiently.  You will assist fee earners with progressing both commercial and residential property matters from instruction through to completion which will include preparation and submission of searches, conducting searches and enquiries through Land Registry Portal, filing SDLT returns, preparing completion work including raising cheques, completion statements, invoicing and preparing files for closing and archiving as well as providing general secretarial support.   You will also provide general admin and secretarial support to other fee earners in the office as and when required in the absence of a particular secretary or when excessive workloads require additional secretarial support.    You will use a high degree of self management and initiative.

You will need to have :

  • Previous residential conveyancing and commercial property knowledge and experience gained in a law firm;
  • a high standard of general education;
  • Possess excellent client care skills;
  • have extensive word processing experience across a variety of business software packages;
  • have general office admin experience including audio typing and digital dictation;
  • have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • be an effective communicator both written and verbal with the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues, clients and other professional contacts;
  • enjoy working in an environment that is highly focused but friendly and supportive.
